Baby Shower #1

I am so incredibly blessed to have such a great family and great friends! My godmother and godsister threw me a shower in California while we were out for Christmas and I can't thank them enough for that special day. It was so great to see many people from my Mt. Olive family as well as friends of both Will and I that were there to share to support us through this exciting new adventure called parenthood! :)

We were blessed to receive so many amazing gifts and I will cherish all of the memories that were created that day for me. Thank you to everyone who was able to make it.

Here are a couple of pictures from the shower:

27 Week Report

  • How far along? 27 Weeks
  • Total weight gain: 12 lbs.
  • Maternity clothes? Yep. However I found this little contraption that allows me to wear my pre-pregnancy pants, so now I have a few more pieces in my wardrobe that I can wear. I hate shopping for maternity clothes though as the majority of them are frumpy or not cute. Oh well.
  • Sleep? I am getting a lot sleep, fortunately! Baby tends to kick a few times when we first go to bed, but he settles down and I get to sleep. Although trips to the bathroom are becoming more frequent, so I am sure sleep will become a little less frequent.
  • Best moment this week? Will felt baby! We were laying in bed and the little guy started to move, so he finally got to feel him. Baby has been pretty stubborn and Will hasn't been able to feel him yet, so we were pretty excited! Baby moves a lot during the day when WIll is gone at work, but he finally felt the little guy!
  • Movement?I can feel him lots now, every day. He has his own little schedule, so it is pretty fun to know when I am going to feel something. He is really active during the day and pretty mellow at night, hopefully he stays on this schedule when he is born! :)
  • Food cravings? Pumpkin Cheesecake Ice Cream. Chocolate. Cranberry Limeade.
  • Labor signs? Nope, thank goodness.
  • Belly button in or out? In, but getting really shallow.
  • How are you feeling? I get asked this question about 22 times a day these days! I am feeling great. I have been really lucky and that this pregnancy is treating me very well.
  • What I miss: A good glass of wine with dinner.
  • What I'm looking forward to: Our trip home to California for the holidays!
  • Size of the baby: An Eggplant

Happy 26th Birthday Erin!

Well, I am officially 26 years old now! Looking back the last year has been a truly amazing one (and very eventful) and now I am excited to see what year 26 has in store for me. I am looking forward to celebrating our one year wedding anniversary and becoming a mom when our little guy is born. Birthdays always bring about times of reflection for me and looking back, I know that I am one amazing lady and so fortunate for all of the wonderful blessings in my life.

For my birthday this year, we went to dinner with friends and had a low key day. Just what I needed! Will and I clearly dressed up for the occasion with our matching suit shirts. Thanks to our friends for buying them for us.

First Big Snow in Colorado!

A couple of days ago we had a snow storm that left lots of snow on the ground! It snowed for three days straight. We have come to learn that Harley loves the snow and even when she is not outside playing she is watching it from inside! Thought we would share a few of these pictures with you!

22 Weeks!

22 Week Report! :)

I know that I have been not good at posting these little reports, so I am going to try to get better as I need the practice so that when baby gets here I will be really good at posting!

  • How far along? 22 Weeks
  • Total weight gain: 7 lbs.
  • Maternity clothes? Yep. I had to retire all of my regular pants and a lot of my tops. I still have a few shirts that are not pregnancy that I can wear. All of my dresses still fit though!
  • Sleep? I am getting sleep, but Will and I have decided that our mattress sucks. We are going to be looking into getting a new one soon. I get better sleep on the couch right now!
  • Best moment this week? Feeling baby move all the time now! It is a nice little reminder throughout the day that our little guy is doing good.
  • Movement?I can feel him lots now, every day. Everytime our little guy moves, Will is usually at work so I am anxious for him to feel the baby soon too.
  • Food cravings? Pumpkin Cheesecake Ice Cream. It is a good thing I am pregnant during the fall! Will says we should stock up on pumpkin products before Thanksgiving is over!
  • Labor signs? Not even close!
  • Belly button in or out? In.
  • How are you feeling? I am feeling great. Life is really good.
  • What I miss: Sleeping through the night.
  • What I'm looking forward to: My Birthday next week!
  • Size of the baby: A Papaya

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween from the Dewese family!

We thought it would be fun to dress up Harley for the holiday, not sure she really thought it was fun! We dressed her up as a bumblebee, she was so cute! It is fun to think that next Halloween we will have another little one to dress up.

We hope you had a great Halloween!

We're having a BOY!

Will and I found we are having a BOY today! We are both very excited. Most of my family thought we were having a girl, but Will's family thought we were having a boy. Guess the Dewese family was correct! Boys run in Will's family so it was no surprise to them that we are indeed having a boy. Here are some of the pictures from the ultrasound today. We also got a DVD of the whole thing, so we can watch our little guy whenever we want!

P.S. Baby is the size of a cantelope this week.

Baby's First Concert... Jason Mraz!

Baby's first Concert: September 19, 2009, Jason Mraz.

So, I know the baby probably couldn't fully enjoy the concert like Will and I did, but I realized that this was baby's first concert! At this point the baby's ears are formed, so he or she can hear sounds and vibrations, so lucky for baby their first concert was Jason Mraz!

We went to a concert in June, Keith Urban and Sugarland, but at that point baby was not able to hear anything, so we can't consider that its first concert! Okay, I know that this is probably a really stupid post, but I thought it as cute and wanted to make sure that we remember this moment for our child's sake! We have to start exposing him or her to good music from an early age. :)

Here is a look at the amazing venue we saw Jason Mraz at, Red Rocks Amphitheatre. It was amazing. Definitely the best concert venue I have ever been too.

16 Week Report

Baby is the size of an Avacado this week!

How far along? 16 weeks

Total weight gain: 4 lbs.

How big is baby? The size of an avacado

Maternity clothes? Still wearing my regular clothes, but finally started shopping for maternity clothes. My guess is in the next week or so I will start wearing them. I have found some great deals online and in stores, so I am taking advantage of the sales and clearance racks and stocking up!

Sleep? I have been on a wierd sleep schedule. It takes me awhile to get to sleep, but I generally sleep pretty good. I have started to use a body pillow for support, so sleeping on my side isn't so painful.

Best moment this week? Hearing the baby's heartbeat this past week at the doctors. It was such a great little sound. Every time I hear that little heartbeat I tear up. I cannot believe there is a little person growing inside of my. It is so crazy to think. Baby's heartbeat was 160 beats per minute, which many people are saying that means it is a girl. The doctor told me to not believe any old wives tales as that one is not true. We'll see!

Movement? I think I feel things, but then again it may just be gas! Not really sure. Everything I read says around 17 weeks is when you can start feeling the baby and around 20-22 weeks is when you can feel the baby from the outside. This is one thing that I am very excited about!

Food cravings? Still chicken nuggets!

Labor signs? Nope.

Belly button in or out? In.

How are you feeling? Pretty good. I have had few days where I felt really sick after I ate. Other than that though I am feeling really good.

What I miss: My family. It is so hard to be far away from my parents and sister. It times like this that I really wished I lived closer to them, so they could experience the pregnancy with me in person. Although I chat with pretty frequently via the phone and emails.

What I'm looking forward to: The Jason Mraz concert tomorrow night!

Milestone: Hearing a healthy baby's heartbeat!

* And mark your calendars, on October 15 we will find out if we are having a boy or a girl. We are so excited. A lot of our family and friends are saying it is a girl, but we will see. :)

15 Weeks and First Belly Pictures

Pictures are finally here! Baby is 15 weeks along! Still along ways to go, but crazy to think in 5 weeks I will be half way though the pregnancy! I finally starting to get a little baby bump, although right now to most people, it probably looks like I've just put on a few extra pounds! Oh well, we know what is really going on! I am feeling pretty good, although morning sickness hit me hard early in my second trimester. We have our next doctor's appointment next week. Will is not able to make it since his job is down in Boulder, so my good friend Whitney will be coming with me.
15 Week Report! :)
  • How far along? 15 weeks
  • Total weight gain: 2 lbs. I think the morning sickness has kept this number remaining low.
  • How big is baby? The size of an orange.
  • Maternity clothes? Nope, still wearing my normal clothes. I have had to retire a few pairs of pants, but still wearing all of my normal clothes.
  • Sleep? I am getting sleep, but it is not great sleep.
  • Best moment this week? We think Harley can sense that there is a baby! I know it sounds crazy but she will lay her head on my belly, lick my belly and just stare at it. It is really funny and really cute!
  • Movement? I know that baby is moving a ton based on what I am reading about the baby and the pregnancy, but no felt movements yet.
  • Food cravings? Chicken Nuggets and Mac n' Cheese
  • Labor signs? Nope. Thank goodness!
  • Belly button in or out? In.
  • How are you feeling? Pretty good. I am really starting to feel pregnant, so that is exciting! When you don't feel anything or see any changes it is sometimes to hard to make reality of this new adventure that we have embarked on. But more and more Will and I have these realizations that our family is growing and we couldn't be more exciting.
  • What I miss: Sleeping on my stomach!
  • What I'm looking forward to: Doctor's appointment next week. I can't wait to hear the baby's heartbeat.
  • Milestone: Not vomiting today! :)

And baby is the size of an orange this week!

Will's New Job!

After spending most of the summer job hunting, Will was offered and accepted a position at the University of Colorado at Boulder (known more commonly as CU). Will was hired as the new Assistant Director for Judicial Affairs and is really enjoying his new job. His new job is keeping him busy, but he is excited to be back at work. With his new job, he meets with students who violated university policies and/or federal and state laws, hangs out with parents & lawyers, and lots of other fun things which I am sure he will tell you more about next time he sees you! The one downside of the job is that has to commute now. No more walking to work! The drive is about an hour both ways, so we are getting used to the idea of not seeing as much of each other during the week. Overall this is a great opportunity for Will, so we are very excited for this new adventure for him and our family.

13 Weeks!

So, baby is 13 weeks this week! It is so hard to believe it has already been 13 weeks. I know it is has been a few weeks since my last post, but August is the busiest month for me at work. I don't have a ton of extra time. But August is almost over (also hard to believe), so I have a little more free time. Will and I are keep having these realizations that yes, we are indeed pregnant and baby is on its way! :) We have started to think about baby names and have list going, so that is also really exciting to think about. In 6-7 weeks we will find out the sex of the baby and we are very anxious for that. Many people are making predictions, so we will see who is right.

13 Week Report! :)
  • How far along? 13 weeks
  • Total weight gain: 2 lbs.
  • How big is baby? The size of a peach.
  • Maternity clothes? Nope, still wearing my normal clothes. Although my pants are starting to feel a little tight.
  • Sleep? I am so tired all the time. I am hoping that now I am in my second trimester I will start to have more energy. And I can officially no longer sleep on my stomach. It hurts too much.
  • Best moment this week? Making it to the second trimester! :) Best moment of last week was that we got to hear the baby's heartbeat at our doctor's visit.
  • Movement? Nothing that I can feel yet, but mom tells me that I should be feeling things in the next couple of weeks, so I am pretty excited.
  • Food cravings? I haven't really had any cravings.
  • Labor signs? Nope.
  • Belly button in or out? In.
  • How are you feeling? Pretty good. I have had few days where I felt really sick after I ate. Other than that though I am feeling really good.
  • What I miss: Iced Tea! Darn caffeine.
  • What I'm looking forward to: Will starting his new job on Monday.
  • Milestone: We are 13 weeks pregnant! And we are now in the second trimester.

Baby's now the size of a peach!
Your fetus is forming teeth and vocal cords...savor this, their nonfunctional phase. Baby is approaching normal proportions, with his head now only one third the size of his body. And intestines are in the process of moving from the umbilical cord to baby's tummy -- much more convenient.

9 Weeks!

It is hard to believe it has already been 9 weeks. I found this pregnancy update questionnaire thing on another pregnancy blog and I thought it was a smart idea, so I am going to use it too! It will be fun to see how things change over the next seven months!

  • How far along? 9 weeks
  • Total weight gain: -1 lbs.
  • How big is baby? The size of a green olive
  •  Maternity clothes? Nope, still wearing my normal clothes.
  • Sleep? I am so tired all the time. I have been sleeping pretty well, but can no longer lay on my stomach for very long without getting tummy pains.
  • Best moment this week? Telling everyone that we are expecting. We have such great people in our lives. So many people already love this baby, which is a great feeling.
  • Movement? Well, the baby is moving but I can’t feel it.
  • Food cravings? Macaroni and Cheese, yogurt, raspberries
  • Labor signs? Nope.
  • Belly button in or out? In.
  • How are you feeling? Overall, I have been feeling great. Today was the first day that I felt awful. Ended up taking a sick day as I couldn't keep anything down.
  • What I miss: Wine and sleeping on my stomach.
  • What I'm looking forward to: We are picking up Harley (our puppy) tomorrow!
  • Milestone: We are 9 weeks pregnant!

THIS WEEK: Baby is the size of a Green Olive!

First Doctor's Appointment

We had our first doctor's appointment earlier this week and we found out that we are 7 weeks along and little baby Dewese is scheduled to make its first appearance into the world on March 5, 2010. During the ultrasound we got to see the babies little heartbeat, which it made it seem just a little more real for us. It was crazy that at only 7 weeks old, the babies heartbeat is already 146 beats per minute. Our doctor said that everything looks great. Our next appointment in in a month. Here is baby Dewese's first baby picture!

We're Expecting!

It is true, we are going to be parents to more than just a puppy! We are expecting our first child sometime in early 2010.

We found out a couple of weeks ago when my period was late and we took a home pregnancy test. We were so surprised by the results of the first test, we had to take two more to make sure we really believed what we saw in front of us. We have always talked a lot about our future little family, but never expected it to happen this quick. We have had a pretty exciting year with our wedding, honeymoon, and our puppy, but we are excited to be taking on another exciting (and scary) adventure together. We have a doctors appointment tomorrow so we will hopefully find out exactly how far along we are and when this baby will make its first appearance into the world.

New to the World of Blogging!

Hello World!

Neither one of us have ever been big bloggers, but we decided to start this blog to keep everyone up to date on what is happening in our world. Since so many of our family and friends live far away from us, we figured we start this blog to help keep you informed with what is going on our lives.  This will also be a great way for us to record our memories of our life adventures as they happen.

We hope you enjoy! :)
